Vivid Audio G1 GIYA Luxury Speaker

 

Giya breaks new ground for Vivid in that it is the first true floor-standing, four way design and its unique shape is quite distinct from the shield shaped B 1. While it has a narrow front profile, to the side it sports two new 12" side-firing Vivid woofers, mechanically coupled in a reaction canceling design.  The cabinet is unusual in that it conatins a port on either side, behind the woofers tuned to 23 Hz. Then above the bass reflex cabinet is the bass cavity's folded horn. Giya's folded horn consists of a massive duct curving away from the center of the bass drivers, exponentially tapered and smooth, and carefully coiled to avoid abrupt discontinuities. Its natural line and form is the outcome of winding a tapered tube to save space, while preserving the optimum curvature-to-width ratio. The horn folds in on top of itself behind the top of the cabinet and there is an open space in the middle. The mid to upper bass resonance absorbing folded horn is tuned to 100 Hz and converts the woofer's back wave energy above 100 Hz into heat.
